U10 & U11

Our U10 and U11 players transition into the most dynamic age group yet, diving into full 9-a-side games that mirror the professional level! Everything gets an upgrade: the field is larger, the goals and balls are bigger, providing the ultimate testing ground for developing talent. With longer halves and expanded penalty areas, players get more time and space to execute complex principles, showcase advanced skills, and truly compete against other clubs in the Football Canterbury Association.

Parents: The stakes are higher, and so is the need for great coaching! Step up and manage a U10/U11 team—it’s the perfect opportunity to make a huge impact. We provide full support, including funding for essential coaching courses to build your confidence and help you deliver an excellent learning environment for the players. Let’s conquer the season together!

Team Information

Forming a Team

Mixed and Girls teams are formed through social and school friendship groups with the exception of Graded teams which are formed through the Club’s annual grading process and are part of the Development Program.

Equipment

All players are expected to wear the club’s full kit (shirt, shorts, and socks). Players bring their own football boots and shin pads.

Training

Non-graded teams attend one training session per week and can choose to attend optional development sessions. Training takes place at one of BDFC’s grounds – Birchgrove, Easton, Glover St, or Cohen Park – on a weekday afternoon/evening. All teams are led by parent or volunteer coaches and managers.

Graded teams attend two team development training sessions (led by DP coach) per week at Waterfront Oval.

Training allocations are usually finalised in early March and the day/time depends on the team and age group.

For extra training opportunities with our club coaches, go to our PLAYER DEVELOPMENT section to find out more.

Ground Officials

Each Balmain home team MUST provide one volunteer for EVERY home game they play, regardless of the ground they play on. Your team must provide a Ground Official (GO) for your own game. If you are the home team on another club’s field, you must in that instance also provide a GO for your game.

Please go here for more detail on Ground Officials and their responsibilities.
